The joy of vintage clothing is that you often find unusual pieces that you will only come across once in your lifetime, this, however, can be a major down side.  This week I went to an auction, and there were a few lovely pieces I had my eye on, but one dress shone out.  It was a really beautiful, high quality, immaculate 1960's psychedelic dress, in a style and print I have never come across before, it was not in my size, but I wanted it for my shop...big time!

Trouble was, other folk's had there beady eye's on it too, and when it came to auction I panicked!!  Bidding had gone a bit high, and the likely hood of me making any profit out had gone out of the window, so in the moment, I let it go.  I left the auction empty handed, and a bit sad (but at least my purse was still full).

This heavenly, divine dress has been playing on my mind ever since, it was just so lovely, the like of which I will probably never come across again and I really, REALLY regret not fighting for it.  I wish I had just bought it as a stunning addition to my collection, sometimes you get lost in profit and forget why you started doing this, for the love of vintage clothing.  Its fair to say a lesson has been learnt!  Its a crazy world, so who knows, maybe our paths will cross again some day, or maybe it just was not meant to be.

I have some very pretty new pieces in my Etsy store this week so its not all bad, check them out at  beyondthevintage , here are a few to wet your whistle..

Its been another busy week, for selling and shopping!!  I went on a buying road trip at the weekend, 1970s boho and Indian dresses being top of the shopping list.  It was a huge success and I found lots of beautiful pieces to add to the collection, here is a small snippet to wet your taste buds:-

I will be listing lots of my lovely finds over the coming weeks, so keep your eye on etsy and ebay!! As we are heading towards the September equinox, I thought I would mark the day the sun shines directly on the equator, and offer our blog viewers a little treat, so for two weeks only, if you enter the code EQUINOX10 at the etsy shop you will get 10% off!  Aren't I good to you?!

The sun has been shining all week, so now is definitely the time to talk about 1970s dresses.  The bottom line is that EVERY girl can wear a dress from the 70s.  They are just soooo easy to wear, quite simply because vintage 1970s styles were cut for comfort and functional fit.  The arrival of a mass-produced, ready-to-wear fashion market in the 70s, and the popularity of sewing patterns (to create affordable versions of the dress trends at home) has meant that there’s a huge abundance of them on the market today, so finding a cute 70s dress in your style and size is so easy.  There are many different style options, but when the sun shines, I particularly love vintage Indian cotton boho kaftan styles, so today I shall salute them! They cover you up, but are so light and loose, perfect for hot sticky weather.  Effortlessly cool, these laid back bohemian beauties can just be thrown on, (you don't even have to iron them!!) and if you wish, when wearing one, please feel free to dance through corn fields (or any type of field for that matter!) with a flower in your hair!

We have had lots of Indian cotton dresses, kaftans and tunics for sale over the last few weeks...

The three beauties above sold this week, but we have more on the way so if you want to bag one, do keep an eye on the website www.beyondthevintage.com  Have a lovely week, Im off to find a field.....
